We started Vintage Typewriter Company for a simple reason. Writing on a real typewriter feels different. There is no screen pulling you somewhere else, no battery to charge, and no endless editing. Just you, the keys, and the page. Once people try it, a lot of them never want to go back.
Why typewriters
A typewriter does one thing and does it beautifully. The keys snap, the bell rings at the end of a line, and your words land on paper the moment you type them. These machines were built from steel to be repaired rather than thrown away, which is why so many of them still work a lifetime later. They are a joy to use and they look wonderful on a desk.
What we sell
We carry a mix of brand-new manual typewriters made in a classic style, genuine vintage machines, and refurbished models from the makers that earned their reputation. Names like Royal, Olivetti, Hermes, Remington, Smith-Corona and Underwood. Each product page tells you clearly whether a machine is new, vintage, or refurbished, so you always know what you are buying.
Checked and ready to type
Every machine is checked and fitted with a fresh ribbon before it ships, so it types straight out of the box. We list the ribbon size and the key details on each page, and we are happy to answer questions before you buy.
How we ship
Orders go out with a tracked New Zealand courier, and delivery is free on orders of $100 or more, with a flat $15 charge under $100. Typewriters are heavy and full of moving parts, so we pack them with care. Most parcels arrive within 2 to 5 working days, and you get a tracking link by email as soon as yours is on its way.
